Shortly after the federal indictment was made public, Orange County Sheriff Michael Carona took a sixty day leave of absence from his office to focus his attention to preparing and assisting with his defense.
Sheriff Carona gave an in depth interview about his decision to temporarily leave the day-to-day duties to his command staff and the surrounding firestorm to Emmy Award winning producer and host Leslie Dutton of the Full Disclosure Network.

The position of Sheriff of Orange County has a salary of about $200,000 a year plus (Legal) perks. We need to get the best person this salary can locate. We need a well educated individual with a lot of command experience, preferably from another department, so that we don’t go thought this situation again. I have seen that one of carona’s old assistant sheriff’s, who decided not to run against him, might be selected as interim sheriff. Before we jump from the frying pan into the fire should we not check what prompted this individual to decide not to run against carona???
Its amazing to watch the Republican Party begin its in fighting that is sure to split the party apart even more. All this for a non-partisan elected office. One has to wonder why the Lincoln Club and other GOP power brokers in OC are so interested in controlling local non-partisan offices. Especially when it comes to the Sheriff and District Attorney. I know this, the Lincoln Club has made it a mission of theirs to bust the unions and public employee pay/benefits, especially in the area of law enforcement.
